And nobody relished that chance more than former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers.
Announcing the Eagles’ selection with the 49th overall pick, Akers taunted Dallas over division rival Philadelphia’s recent victory in Super Bowl LII in an epic speech.
“Hey Dallas, the last time you were in the Super Bowl, these draft picks weren’t born,” Akers bellowed amid deafening boos from Cowboys fans.
The coup de grace came as Akers revealed the Eagles’ pick - a prospect who shares a name with the Cowboys - tight end Dallas Goedert. Ouch.
